The Deer Hills have directional views of the surrounding area in southern Evans Notch. The most common approach is from the South of the hills via Deer Hill Trail beginning on the North side of Deer Hill Road. This trail climbs past the spur trail to Deer Hill Spring up Deer Hill. Just remember that Deer Hill Road through the National Forest is closed during the winter months. They can also be accessed via the Baldface Circle Trail parking lot on the East side of Route 113 in Chatham, New Hampshire. This route goes past the Appalachian Mountain Club’s Cole River Camp, crosses the Cold River and climbs up Little Deer Hill. There was once an active granite quarry on the Southwest side of Deer Hill, and the Little Deer Hill Trail overlaps partially with its old access road.
