Just before Northbound through-hikers begin descending into Mahoosuc Notch, the “toughest mile” of the Appalachian Trail, the trail traverses Fulling Mill Mountain’s South Peak. It features expansive views to the East and Southwest, and is one of the many gorgeous spots in the rugged Mahoosuc Range. The Appalachian Trail Northbound begins descending after the South Peak viewpoint, and does not traverse the viewless true summit.
