Mount Carlo, the first mountain in Maine that the northbound Appalachian Trail crosses, features nice views of the surrounding area. It makes for a good part of a loop hike – ascending via the Carlo Col Trail, the Appalachian Trail across Mount Carlo and Goose Eye Mountain, and down the Goose Eye Trail.
