This is about the smaller mountain in Dixfield, not the more well-known Sugarloaf Mountain.
Sugarloaf in Dixfield – not to be confused with Sugarloaf Mountain to the North – is a steep climb to the top of a knob with fine views of the Webb River valley below, downtown Dixfield, and the Presidential Range. Sugarloaf consists of two peaks, which are located above the lower Bull Rock, and Bull Rock is a good hike to do on the way to or from the North peak of the two peaks, where the views are located. In the early 2010s, there were logging operations that heavily obscured the trail, but as of 2019, the trail is back, and in good condition. It is best to park down on Route 142 and walk up Holt Hill Road to reach Bull Rock and Sugarloaf.
